چکیده

CHURG-STRAUSS SYNDROME Churg-Strauss syndrome is a rare small vessel vasculitis manifested by fever, asthma, and hypereosinophilia. This disease is also referred to as allergic angiitis and granulomatosis, • A patient’s combined genetic predisposition and regulatory mechanisms control expression of the immune response to antigens. • Negative test results for antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies do not exclude disease, nor do positive results indicate a specific syndrome. • The combination of clinical, laboratory, biopsy, and radiographic findings usually points to a specific vasculitis syndrome. • Definitive diagnosis of a vasculitic syndrome depends on demonstration of vascular involvement and may be accomplished by biopsy or angiography. • Differentiation of primary and secondary vasculitis is essential because their pathophysiologic, prognostic, and therapeutic aspects differ. • The diagnosis of vasculitis should be considered in any patient with febrile illness and organ ischemia without other explanation. Vasculitis syndrome—diagnosis and therapy

In patients with connective tissue disease, vascular injury induced by primary or secondary vasculitis syndromes can lead to organ dysfunction due to the loss of nutrient supply from the blood. Such vasculitis syndromes can be refractory to treatment and fatal. The nomenclature and the definition of vasculitis syndromes have recently been revised, and clinical practice guidelines for diseases a...

Systemic vasculitis in myelodysplastic syndromes.

The development of immunological abnormalities in various neoplasms is a rather common phenomenon. The prevalence of life-threatening systemic vasculitis in malignancy, however, is much lower. Nonetheless we found an unexpected frequency of several autoimmune manifestations, including systemic vasculitis, in certain myelodysplastic syndromes. We illustrate this finding with the case of a 43-yea...

Paraneoplastic vasculitis associated to pelvic chondrosarcoma: a case report

Vasculopathic syndromes have been associated with hematological and solid organ malignancies. The pathogenesis of these syndromes remains largely unknown and there are no biologic markers identified. Whether it is or is not a paraneoplastic syndrome is under discussion, the close temporal relationship of cancer and vasculitis suggests that these vasculitides are a paraneoplastic condition. We r...

Importance of Cutaneous Vasculitis in Rheumatology

Cutaneous vasculitis may present as a significant component of many systemic vasculitic syndromes such as rheumatoid vasculitis or anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) associated primary vasculitic syndromes like microscopic polyangiits. Cutaneous vasculitis manifested most often as palpable purpura or infiltrated erythema indicating dermal small vessel vasculitis and less commonly as no...
